Third World Newsreel Announces 2021 Evening Seminars for Filmmakers and their Fans
TWN sponsors a free and open to the public virtual series of workshops on various film production topics aimed particularly at emerging media makers of color, in the spring and fall. Supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs with the City Council, the Peace Development Fund and individual donors.

On Audre Lorde’s birthday, the 90 minute version of this historic film will be presented by Third World Newsreel with ZAMI NOBLA: National Organization of Black Lesbians on Aging, as part of the Women Sweet on Women: Black Lesbian Film Festival, folllowed by a talk with filmmakers Ada Gay Griffin and Michelle Parkerson. Stephenson explores the complex history and present-day politics of Haiti and the Dominican Republic in a film that premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival. Feb 27th is the anniversary of the Dominican Republic’s controversial “independence” from Haiti.
